Stir-frying a Creative Concept

Us as designer, sometimes try to save some time by skipping some steps that are important in a design-product development.
Now a days, pressure is part of every single thing we do, so if we wanted to make it work, we have to follow some guidelines to keep it fluid.
The best way to achieve this is to have a CORE CREATIVE CONCEPT.
You have to understand what you are doing, what and how are you going to develop the job.

We need to know what are we going to communicate. KEEP IT SIMPLE.

The process starts with a revirew of your design and marketing brief to determine what you actually have to work with.
And how we achieve this? Bye doing a bref that links THE CREATIVE with the BUSINESS OBJECTIVES, and this will remain to clear any doubts that pop.

There are some inflexible elements:
1. How much time you have? Coordinate to maximize your time
2.Production and retail merchandaising requirements. Anticipating any extra budgets that production requires. Design plans and reality often collide, at the point where it's going to cost someone alot of time and money to make the necessary changes.
3. Deadlines and technical issues. Creativity doesn't depend on having a largebudget, it does depend on knowing what the budget is BEFORE the process actually gets started.

TOUCHSCREENS

At first instance I thought that these new way of computer was going to be far time away.... like the ones we saw in avatar for example that they pase information from a glass to another.. but now a days we saw this even in our pockets with the iPhone and iTouch.. but it's not that impressive if we see it in a large format..
I remember a think that happened to my mom and me with an touchscreen computer.. I told her that it was a touchscreen computer and i told her that she can even play with the screensaver (which it was of some fishes in a pond and if you touch them they swim away) so she started to play with it and she was impressed.. then we separated in the store and i heard her calling me so I went where she was and she told me "hey these screensaver doesn't work, the penguins don't move", "Mom it's not a touchscreen computer it's a plasma TV"...
Ok this is an example that we are not that informed about new technologies but we keep trying :)

MAGAZINE ART DIRECTION FOR THE IPAD

It's impressive how time go fast and introduce us into a new era of technology, in which instead of changing pages with all your hand, now just with a smooth movement it goes to the next.

E-magazines are the new Black of this time.. now art direction it's trying to interact more with the costumer letting them be into animations.
Otherwise E-magazines are considered into the E-cological movement that it's now being presented in society, because there are no printed issues and there are no harm to trees in this case.
I would like to have an iPad and enjoy of all these new features, i want to read Juxtapox in this... it would be cool!! :)

The Future of Web Content

There's a constant battle between APPLE, GOOGLE & ADOBE beacuse of ethe future of web content and application runtime formats.
There was a time in which it was supposed that boradsband internet connectivity would launch a faster advance in web applications and runtimes.
At first Flash platform was unique to create interactive browsers apps, but about 3 or 4 years later HTML/Javascript appeared. This was the MOTHER of YOUTUBE and other basicly.
I think that techology and need will open ways to create this kind of things in a easier way. But right now I prefer HTML as a programmer, because i think it´s more clear and faster than Flash, but well at this point I don´t know much about Actionscript 3.0, maybe I´ll be surprised later :)

Natasha Tsakos- Upwake

Upwake is a story about Zero, a mother-day business man.. stucked between dream and reality!
Her purpose was to make an enviroment that makes the ilussion or something unreal! She tried to be like an ILUSIONIST.
Technology is an instrument that let us, create what´s on our minds, with high definition.
Her first, act were moves coordinated with sounds, when I saw it, it was kind The Umbilical Brothers. One brother is the one that's doing the sounds and the other just keep following what´s he´s hearing.
In this case, she uses 3D animations, and proyections, to be intouch with it´s performance.
´For me it´s a very interesting show.. because it´s a mix of effects. No special effects, just proyections. :)

A conversation with Martin Scorcese

This is a very good video, it explains how visual things evolve into something awesome, in the 50's movie theaters where not very usual mode to learn because of their low visual content, but now on time everything has changed.
